Arkansas state auditors reported that laws may have been broken when a stage was purchased for more than $19,000 for Gov. Sarah Huckabee Sanders.
KUAR in Little Rock, Arkansas reported:
The Arkansas Legislative Audit released a report Monday afternoon on Gov. Sarah Huckabee Sanders’ purchase of a lectern, saying the governor may have violated state law after spending taxpayer money on an expensive Falcon podium.
…
The report also attempted to find out whether the stage price was above market value, but was “unable to determine the reasonableness of the costs.” Legislative auditors did not fully understand what the stage adjustments were, and many attempts to get the vendors to explain were unsuccessful. The report noted that similar stages cost only about $7,000.
Legislative auditors said there were “possible non-compliance with state law,” and recommended that the governor’s office follow state rules more closely in the future.

This is what one party control of a state government looks like. The governor’s office may have broken the law, but the Republican-controlled Legislature told the Republican governor to try to do a better job the next time he follows the law.
Sarah Huckabee Sanders has her eyes on the White House and is reportedly one of the names on Donald Trump’s running mate shortlist. Lectern Gate is a scandal that is bothering Sanders, so the auditors have an incentive to try to fix this problem.
Huckabee Sanders has wasted taxpayer money and probably broke the law, making her the perfect heir to Trump’s MAGA throne.
