In contrast to the chaos among Republicans in the House of Representatives, House Democrats appointed leader Hakeem Jeffries (D-NY) in less than ten minutes.
Punchbowl News reported:
Jeffries has one job right now: look like the reasonable adult in the room while Republicans continue to tear each other apart.
Whenever the House of Representatives meets to vote for a speaker, Democrats will once again rally behind Jeffries. They privately nominated him this week in less than 10 minutes — even including two straight minutes of clapping — with House Democratic Caucus Chairman Pete Aguilar jokingly “noting if Jake Sherman was listening,” according to members in the room.
The Republicans are destroying each other in some cases national television, while Democrats, like the rest of the country, are waiting for the nonsense to stop so that important work can be done on issues like keeping the government open and passing aid packages for Israel and Ukraine.
The Democrats in the House of Representatives are well led, organized and united. They are a microcosm of the contrast between the two sides. Democrats have it together and are ready to get to work. Republicans are so deeply involved in a civil war that is an extension of the chaos Trump has embedded in the Republican Party that they are paralyzed and incapable of doing anything.
It’s a safe bet that in November 2024, voters will long since tire of the Republican circus and put the competent and focused Democratic Party back in control of the House of Representatives.
