In what should be seen as a final step to revive his impeachment inquiry, Representative James Comer has asked President Biden to testify.
Comer asked Biden a number of questions that have already been answered, and then concluded his letter to the president by asking him to testify:
As chairman of the committee, I invite you not only to answer the questions in this letter, but also to participate in a public hearing where you will have the opportunity to explain under oath your commitment to your family .’ s sources of income and the means it has used to generate this income. As you know, presidents before you have testified before congressional committees, including President Ford’s testimony before the House Judiciary Committee’s Subcommittee on Criminal Justice in 1974.
The committee is open to your scheduling, but proposes that the hearing will take place on April 16, 2024. The White House may contact committee staff James Mandolfo or Jake Greenberg at (202) 225-5074 to ask questions about this hearing. The Committee on Oversight and Accountability is the chief oversight committee of the U.S. House of Representatives and has broad authority to investigate “any matter” at “any time” under House Rule 2, of the Constitution – that the ‘House of Representatives’. . . shall have the sole power of impeachment. On December 13, 2023, the House of Representatives formalized an impeachment inquiry into these and other matters.

Once President Biden stops laughing, the answer to Comer’s request will obviously be no. If Chairman Comer had any evidence of a criminal offense, he would not need Biden’s testimony.
Comer has no evidence that Biden did anything wrong, so he essentially asks Biden to save his impeachment inquiry by testifying.
Joe Biden will not testify before the Oversight Committee. Biden isn’t going to help Comer revive his dead impeachment inquiry by lending it credibility with his testimony.
Chairman Comer’s letter was one of the last steps taken by a desperate man who knows his impeachment inquiry is dead and over.
