If you’re wondering what happened to Jeffrey Clark after he tried to help ex-President Donald Trump overturn an election he lost, Clark is currently facing disciplinary proceedings and in that process witnesses testify to some very disturbing events, including his belief that “smart thermostats” were being used to manipulate voting machines.
In the days before the deadly terrorist attack of January 6, 2021, Trump hatched the plot to replace the leadership of the Justice Department with Jeffrey Clark. Clark was willing, true
Jeffrey Clark, a senior Trump official at DOJ, is facing disciplinary proceedings that could result in the loss of his license to practice law. He is accused of “making false claims as he attempted to enlist the agency in former President Donald Trump’s efforts to overturn his 2020 election loss.”
“What Mr. Clark was trying to do was essentially a coup against the Department of Justice,” the District of Columbia Bar’s disciplinary counsel said during opening arguments Tuesday.

A coup here, a coup there, a coup everywhere, a coup.
Clark’s attorney denies that Clark was involved in an attempted coup at the DOJ, saying he was instead involved in an “internal debate and disagreement.”
Clark is the person who tried to put Trump in charge of the DOJ as its “acting” head, a ploy he often used to circumvent the standards that serve as checks and balances to take action against Trump’s false claims about the elections he had held. lost. Clark is accused of trying to pressure DOJ leaders to act on false claims of election fraud in an effort to help Trump overturn the election results in several states.
To that end, Pat Philbin, Donald Trump’s former deputy White House counsel, gave his first public testimony about what happened at the DOJ when Trump tried to seize power and overthrow American democracy, testifying that Clark was “very uninformed was over claims of election fraud – supporting a theory about ‘smart thermostats’ being used to manipulate voting machines – and not being sufficiently aware of the devastation it would cause to the country if his plan succeeded.”
Philbin describes Clark in Politico as a true believer who thought he had a chance to “do something about it.”
Philbin “warned Clark that riots would break out in every major American city if Trump overturned the outcome of the election,” to which Clark responded, “Well, Pat, that’s what the Insurrection Act is for.”
Clark wanted to deploy U.S. military personnel and federalized National Guard troops to U.S. borders to quell any civil unrest, insurrection or rebellion that might arise from Donald Trump’s refusal to honor the will of the people in an election that he lost.
The conclusion of this testimony is more than just true did Trump find so many people so willing to throw away their own careers for patently crazy Q-Anon level conspiracy theories, but more importantly right now: Trump and his handlers at Project 2025 are plotting plotting how not to be stopped next time.
Trump and his supporters did not consider the idea of using the US military against American citizens in an attempt to stay in power. This is the thinking of a dictator, not a president of a democratic country.
