Although a “few million” Trump supporters live there within an hour of his trial on Monday, an estimated only 50 showed up.
Lawrence O’Donnell shared:
The revolution will not be broadcast. Because they didn’t show up. A few million Trump voters live within an hour of the courthouse. Maybe fifty showed up. pic.twitter.com/V0bEdjvbTV

This lukewarm show of support is not new for Trump during his legal battle; it started last year.
Some of this can be attributed to the fact that as of January 2024, approximately “749 federal defendants have been tried in their cases and received convictions for their criminal activities as of January 6.” Approximately 467 have been sentenced to periods of incarceration,” according to the District of Columbia.
So it could be that Trump’s supporters fear legal consequences for any potential mafia-like activity they might become entangled in, which would be an ironic consequence of Trump enablers confusing peaceful protests with what Trump and his supporters actually do. did on January 6, as described by Richt. Wray as a terrorist attack.
The other part of this is that it could be more of what we’re seeing on the ground in Trump country, which is a big drop in visible support, even from his most ardent supporters.
This could be due to Trump fatigue, which is not the same as people not voting for their candidate anymore. But no political candidate could hope to enter an election without the enthusiasm of his strongest supporters.
Someone responded that while Trump supporters didn’t show up in large numbers, Trump critics certainly made an appearance:

Donald Trump is supported as a viable political candidate by the party he took over and by a cowardly media that is looking for Trump’s money thanks to his 2016 campaign and his four chaotic years. Neither the Republican Party nor the media seem to realize that even Trump supporters are tired.
Everyone is tired of Donald Trump. Including himself, it seems, as he was reportedly caught sleeping during his own trial.
