Hope Hicks is testifying at the hush money trial, and when Trump was asked if she betrayed him, he didn’t answer.
Don’t miss Sarah Jones’ essay on Kristi Noem, entitled Predatory Is the Point of the Day.
Here was the scene when the court went into its lunch break:
With one minute to go before the usual 1 p.m. lunch break, Judge Merchan thinks this is a good place to stop.
Trump leaves the courtroom. He doesn’t respond to a pooler who asks, “Did Hope Hicks betray you?”
We’ll be back at 2:15 PM ET as Hope Hicks resumes her testimony.

Hope Hicks will provide key testimony about the plot to bury negative stories about Trump and how the scheme became criminal in Trump’s attempt to prevent voters from ever learning information that almost certainly would have cost him the 2016 election.
If Trump would have lost in 2016, the Republican Party would almost certainly have switched to someone else in 2020, meaning the pandemic would have been handled differently, the 2020 election would have been a Democratic re-election campaign, 1/6 not’ That happens not, and Trump probably won’t run for president.
You could say that hush money launched Donald Trump and brought the nation into the current crisis that threatens democracy.
Trump would have violated the silence order if he had answered about Hope Hicks, but the crimes related to hush money and election interference are important because they deprived voters of important information that could have potentially ended Trump’s career.
