Donald Trump tried to campaign for the first time in weeks and failed at an event that was supposed to go across the border in Michigan.
Trump steered away from talking about the border, saying, “So many people are getting away with it. They say: Oh, let him go. Let him go. I’m the only one who has to post a deposit. You know, I put down a bond. I didn’t do anything wrong. I had to post $175 million bail this morning. I didn’t do anything wrong. Can they shoot someone, kill someone and walk out of there? Do you think that is a fair policy? That’s called the radical left.”

It’s not called radical left. It’s called decades of alleged fraud and crime.
Trump was in poor form at this event. His voice sounded low. He was once again chained to his teleprompter, making lethargic comments with little energy. It remains striking that Donald Trump cannot keep things together during his campaign appearances.
The ex-president has been in hiding at his private club for weeks, so he has plenty of rest. He hasn’t been on the campaign trail, but Trump is in such a state of disrepair that Republicans might be better off not following the campaign trail.
Donald Trump simply can’t get it done, because Republicans have saddled themselves with a spent candidate who could soon be a convicted felon.
