Among the dozens of names vying to become Trump’s running mate is Senator Katie Britt, who played a leading role in the disastrous SOTU response.
Politico reported on Trump’s list of potential running mates:
The names in question remain in flux, according to several people familiar with the list, who describe it as “in pencil, not in pen.” But there are also Sens. Scott from South Carolina, Vance from Ohio, Katie Britt op. of Alabama and Marco Rubio of Florida, as well as Govs. Noem from South Dakota, Sarah Huckabee Sanders from Arkansas and Doug Burgum from North Dakota. Donalds, the Florida representative, and Gabbard, the former Hawaii representative, are also under consideration or have been put forward by Trump.
This may be the most depressing list of potential running mates I have seen for a presumptive major party nominee in my entire career.

If Trump collapses and descends into his eternal afterlife, none of the people on his list should be trusted with the presidency. No one on his list would be qualified or inspire confidence if he had to step in and become president.
Trump went with Pence in 2016 as he tried to capture the right-wing evangelical vote. In 2024, Trump appears to be looking for a token that he thinks will boost him among a group of voters. Trump has women, African Americans, Cuban America and a few white guys.
It would be hilarious if Trump chose Katie Britt, but whoever he chooses, it appears none of his options will be decisive in 2024.
